Grey Cup Week in Hamilton Along with a Bus Strike
Hamiltonians managed to navigate through the weekend without hopping on a bus, making it trickier than normal to get around town.
It will be even more chaotic this weekend if the strike continues, as Hamilton hosts the 2023 Grey Cup.
Today marks day five of the city’s transit strike.
Bus drivers walked off the job at midnight last Thursday – the first transit strike in Hamilton in 25 years.
The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 107, representing nearly 900 workers, says it’s ready to go back to the bargaining table, but no new talks are scheduled.
The Grey Cup is to be played Sunday at Tim Hortons Field between the Montreal Alouettes and Winnipeg Blue Bombers, bring thousands more people to the city.
The cup itself arrives in Hamilton this afternoon as the C-F-L’s championship week kicks off.
The Cup is travelling on board H-M-C-S Harry DeWolf and arriving at H-M-C-S Star Naval Reserve Division.
