City of Hamilton Dealing with Cybersecurity Incident
The City of Hamilton says a cybersecurity incident is affecting its systems.
An outage was first discovered Sunday and the city says its IT team “took immediate steps to investigate and mitigate the situation.”
As of Monday morning, the city says its experts are actively responding to the incident to determine the cause and potential impacts. The City’s priority, according to a release, is “to safeguard the integrity of our systems and protect any sensitive or private information.”
The release said that while the investigation is ongoing, the City wants to assure the community that staff are taking the matter seriously and are collaborating closely with cybersecurity experts and other authorities to address the issue as quickly and effectively as possible.
“We understand the importance of transparency and will provide updates as new information becomes available,” the statement said. “We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this incident.”
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Hamilton Street Railway said the issue is also affecting the HSRNow app.. HSR suggests riders check the city’s website for available schedules.
HSR’s email and phone lines are not operational at this time. DARTS service is operating normally.
The Hamilton Public Library says its website, online, and telephone services are currently unavailable, however branches are open.
