Happy Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is more than a time for flowers and cards; it is a sacred opportunity to honour the love, sacrifice, and strength that reflect God’s own heart. Scripture celebrates this role vividly, from Hannah’s devoted prayers for her child (1 Samuel 1:27–28) to the Proverbs 31 woman, who “speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction” (Proverbs 31:26). Through these examples, we see motherhood as a reflection of God’s nurturing spirit.
Mothers mirror the qualities of Christ in the ways they love sacrificially and care selflessly, offering forgiveness and comfort much like our Heavenly Father. Many bring their families before God in prayer, entrusting the future of their children to His hands. Their lives are daily demonstrations of faith and devotion.
On this day, we are called to honour all mothers—biological, stepmothers, adoptive mothers, spiritual mentors, and those who have experienced loss. Each plays a vital role in nurturing and guiding others, showing the compassionate heart of God.
As we celebrate the blessing of motherhood, let us also lift them up in prayer:
A Prayer for Mothers
Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the gift of mothers, whose love, sacrifice, and strength reflect Your own heart. In the faithful mothers of Scripture—like Hannah, who prayed with devotion, and the Proverbs 31 woman, who teaches with grace—we see the beauty of motherhood shaped by Your Spirit.
Bless every mother, Lord: biological, adoptive, stepmothers, spiritual mentors, and those who carry the weight of loss. May they be strengthened when weary, renewed with joy, and guarded by Your peace. Let them feel valued, supported, and deeply loved—not only today but every day.
