Canadians Wearing Pink Today for Pink Shirt Day

It is Pink Shirt Day; a day to stand up against bullying.

In Canada, where the annual event began, people wear pink-coloured shirts on the third Wednesday in February to stand against bullying.

Pink Shirt Day began in Nova Scotia in 2007 when a pair of grade 12 students, who were standing up for a younger boy who was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school, wore pink, and encouraged others to do the same.

David Shepherd and Travis Price even bought 50 pink shirts and handed them out to other students.

Pink Shirt Day has since grown into a world-wide initiative, which is often held in different months in various countries.
