Feds Matching Donations to Red Cross to Aid Morocco

The federal government will be matching donations to the Canadian Red Cross to aid in relief efforts in earthquake-stricken Morocco.

Every donation made by individuals to the Canadian Red Cross through to September 28th, will be matched up to a maximum of $3 million.

The funds will help the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement deliver life-saving services, such as emergency food and nutrition assistance, the provision of emergency cash and vouchers and necessary water, sanitation and health services, in Morocco.

Global Affairs Canada continues to monitor the situation and remains in close contact with Moroccan authorities and humanitarian partners.
