Ford Government to Implement Most Recommendations from AG Greenbelt Report

In response to a scathing report from Ontario’s auditor general, Premier Doug Ford says plans are moving forward to develop land in the protected Greenbelt.

Bonnie Lysyk’s report, released Wednesday, suggested the government’s decision to open up the Greenbelt for housing construction ”favoured” developers with connections to the housing minister’s chief-of-staff.

The report offered 15 recommendations to help re-shape the process and Ford says he accepts and will implement 14 of them; but not the one pertaining to revisiting the land deals.

Today, the Ontario Integrity Commissioner said it is reviewing a request from Ford’s office to investigate Ryan Amato, Housing Minister Steve Clark’s chief-of-staff, as per one of Lysyk’s recommendations.

Opposition leaders have called for Clark to resign.
