The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is dedicated to honouring Residential School Survivors, their families, and their communities, and to recognizing the lasting impacts of Canada’s residential school system. Together, we can deepen our understanding of the intergenerational effects of residential schools and reflect on their enduring legacy as part of the ongoing journey toward healing and reconciliation.

Andrew Anstey
Andrew Anstey is a pilot with two Christian aviation ministries: Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) and the Lutheran Association of Missionaries & Pilots (LAMP). He joins JOY Radio’s Hollie Taylor to share his experiences from the past 15 years of flying LAMP pastors and staff into remote areas of northern Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario to support Indigenous communities.
These two ministries enter each community as guests. They seek to connect with local leaders and families, respond to what is happening locally, and build relationships over time. Their approach centres on listening, invitation, humility, and consistent presence, all of which help build trust and friendship.
Fresh IE
Known for his groundbreaking work in faith-based hip hop, Fresh IE is one of the pioneers of Christian hip hop in Canada. He has released more than 20 albums and was the first Canadian Christian artist to be nominated for a Grammy. He continues his mission to uplift, innovate, and inspire.
Beyond music, Fresh IE is a dynamic speaker, community leader, and mentor who reaches out to at-risk youth and Indigenous communities. Working closely with communities in Manitoba, he helps foster healing and reconciliation through a variety of initiatives, including empowering youth to find their voice through rap and music.
