Please Pray For Brian Doerksen After Stage 4 Cancer Diagnosis

Some songs stay with you for a lifetime. If you’ve ever closed your eyes and sung “Come, Now Is the Time to Worship,” leaned into the ache of “Refiner’s Fire,” or found peace in “Faithful One,” then Brian Doerksen has already been part of your story. Today, the Canadian worship artist behind those songs needs us to be part of his.

Brian’s family shared heartbreaking news on Friday evening. After weeks of concern, and just one week after asking supporters to pray while doctors investigated a serious condition, they learned that Brian has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer.

“We have just been informed that Brian has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer,” the family said. “The doctors are still working to determine the specific type. The medical team is moving forward with treatment, as well as pain management.”

It’s the kind of news that stops you in your tracks. And yet, even in the middle of it, Brian’s family paused to say thank you. They’ve felt the love pouring in, and it has carried them.

“Your words of encouragement have been such a gift to our family and team,” they shared, “and we have been deeply blessed by your kindness during this difficult time.”

That’s the beautiful thing about the family of faith. When one of us hurts, we gather close. And right now, Brian and those who love him need us gathered closer than ever.
