Environment Canada says Ontarians should be prepared for a few days of very hot and muggy weather.

There are heat warnings in much of the province, stretching from Windsor to Cornwall, including the GTHA, and areas to the north.

While temperatures are expected to fluctuate between the high 20s and low 30s, when humidity is factored in, the temperature outside will feel more like the high 30s to low 40s, posing an ”elevated risk” of illnesses such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion to many people.

Extreme heat poses significant risk to young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and those working outside.

It’s always a good idea to drink plenty of water before you feel thirsty.

The weather agency is also reminding Ontarians to stay cautious and ensure people or pets are not left inside parked vehicles.
