Hamilton Continues to Suffer from Cyber Incident
The City of Hamilton is entering its second week dealing with a cyber incident that has disabled some of its IT systems.
The breach occurred last Sunday, February 25th, and there’s still no timeline as to when things will be back to normal.
In an update on its website today, the City says it is still too early to identify what type of information has been accessed.
Critical services such as transit, water and wastewater treatment and emergency services are operational; the incident is mainly affecting online and phone services, but that’s having a trickle-down effect throughout departments.
A special session of council was held Monday morning; all committee meetings up to March 15 have been cancelled.
The City has a dedicated section on its website where it says it intends to provide progress reports and updates on services affected, when available.
