Strike at WestJet Averted

WestJet says passengers can expect delays as it ramps up service ahead of the long weekend.

The airline and its pilots’ union reached a deal overnight, hours before a strike deadline which would have halted most operations.

The two sides say they reached a fair deal on wages, job security and a more flexible schedule.

WestJet had grounded much of its fleet yesterday in anticipation of the job action and says staff are moving as quickly as possible to get back on schedule.

The airline is advising passengers to check on their flight status before heading to the airport.
