Bank of Canada Raises Key Interest Rate

As expected, the Bank of Canada has raised its key interest rate by a quarter of a percentage point, bringing it to 5 per cent.

The bank suggests inflation will fall to two percent by mid-2025 and will sit around three percent for the next year.

Its next rate announcement is scheduled for September but the bank has not indicated whether it will raise rates again.
