Funeral for Hazel McCallion to be Held Tuesday

A funeral for former Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion will be held tomorrow on what would have been her 102nd birthday.

McCallion passed at her home last month after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer over Christmastime, according to a family friend.

McCallion is lying in repose at Mississauga City Hall so people can pay tribute.

Her funeral will be held at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

McCallion, known affectionately as “Hurricane Hazel,” spent more than 30 years as mayor of Mississauga, one of Canada’s fastest growing cities.
