Hamilton Centre Stays with NDP

Hamilton Centre voters have decided to stick with the NDP.

Sarah Jama won a provincial byelection in the riding Thursday.

The seat became available when Andrea Horwath stepped down as NDP leader after last summer’s provincial election.

Jama is the executive director and co-founder of the Disability Justice Network of Ontario. She also co-founded the hamilton Encampment Support Network.

However, Jama has faced criticism from Jewish organizations over  comments about Israel, calling them anti-semetic.

Jama has said she’s simply standing up for Palestinian human rights.
