Toronto Mayor Chow Backs New TTC Safety Plan

The Toronto Transit Commission will go over a new transit safety plan next week.

The plan, if approved, would involve hiring 178 new frontline staff; 130 agents at transit stations along with an additional 30 field supervisors.

The goal is to help with security while also improving response times.

The move comes after a spate of violent attacks, several of which involved random strangers, last winter.

The plan has the backing of Toronto mayor Olivia Chow.
