End of an Era: Event to Mark Closing of Iconic Rail Line

The Toronto Transit Commission is inviting the public to say goodbye to the Scarborough Rapid Transit line this weekend.

The line was set to be decommissioned in November, but the decision was made to keep it closed earlier after a derailment in July. Five people were hurt in the incident.

The TTC says it will be a fun-filled, nostalgic event with memorabilia and special guests at Scarborough Centre Station on Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Visitors will have the final opportunity to step on board one of the iconic blue SRT trains, which served millions of Scarborough residents and visitors since 1985.
